Hello Acadia Families, One of our amazing teachers has created a google survey that asks families everything that teachers will need to know about each family’s access to technology or if they will require paper/pencil resources. By responding to this survey, we can collect information into a single document that all teachers can access and families will only have to respond once instead of multiple emails from teachers. Hello Room 19 Families! I hope you are all doing well! Our hallways are empty and we are all missing our students greatly.  We hope you have been keeping busy- we sure have been here at the school!  We continue to await further direction from Alberta Education and the CBE as to what our next steps are for a distance-learning model.  The Grade 4 team has gathered a list of suggested learning activities that families can be currently doing though. Dear Acadia Families, First of all, I would like our families to know how much we are already missing our students.  There are only a few times that schools are open with a full staff and no children and that is usually in August when we are excitedly preparing for a new school year or in June as we clean up in preparation for the following school year.  Being here at school in March with no students is very odd for all of us.  Please know that we are thinking about our families every day and wish everyone the best.   We understand that families are wanting to collect their child’s personal belongings from school and we have been advised through guidelines, set out by Alberta Health Services, to create a schedule for families regarding pick-up of student personal belongings.   Personal belongings include indoor shoes, water bottles, or items brought from home.  We will also be returning student’s money for our Texas donut sale orders and any medications that parents may ha

Today we made levers using different materials. Our goal was to be able to lift a load (TB2). We did not have a Circle of Courage assembly today sadly! (SH) We did book club today. We worked on our story maps. (DM) We will save show and share for Monday! (SA) Important Reminders: - Texas Donuts are due Monday - Dodgeball Forms are due Monday. Thursday March 12 This morning we learned about a new division strategy. We learned about the Box Method. We also did book club and some catch up. We worked on finishing some science from yesterday about levers, social studies posters, and sunflower art. This afternoon we learned more about levers. We talked about how the closer the fulcrum and the load are, the easier it is to lift things. We also learned that the longer a lever it, the easier it is to lift things. A really efficient lever would be a long lever where the load and the fulcrum are close together. Reminders - Field Trip Forms - We NEED volunteers for our field trip. Wednesday March 11th We did some science. In science we learned about levers (SA). We had mission impossible in gym. Tomorrow is our last day of mission impossible (EG). In social studies we talked about treaties again. We had a class debate about whether the treaties were fair or not (EK). In math we continued with our partial quotient strategy. Tomorrow we will learn a new division strategy (DM). - Donut forms are due on Monday - Dodge ball forms are due on Monday **** We have talked about the importance of washing our hands and keeping ourselves healthy.

This morning we continued with a new division strategy. We learned about "Partial Quotient" strategy. After that we had mission impossible in gym. We did book club today. We are looking for excellent examples of our weekly jobs to post around our classroom. In the afternoon we did science and social studies. In science we did a scavenger hunt for the 3 different simple machines we are learning about. We looked for wheels and axles, pulleys and levers. In social studies we talked about treaties and whether the treaties that the First Nations people made with the Canadian government over their land was fair or not. This morning in gym everything was moved around. We have the Canadian Climber out now too (RR). We have Scientists in School coming tomorrow. They will be here all morning! We will be learning about wheels, pulleys and levers.
